Do You Know Where Toxins are Hiding in Your Daily Life?

It’s no secret, free radicals and toxins are in our daily environment. Coming in contact with them is inevitable, but we can minimize the effects of free radicals and toxins if we're aware of how they occupy our personal and environmental space. Shampoo, body washes, lotions, make-up, and cleaning products are a few items that are found in the home that introduce toxins and free radicals daily. Products like Febreze, Airwicks, Lysol...even laundry detergent carries hidden toxins we might not expect. Some Toxins, and How They Affect our Bodies? DMDM Hydantoin and Urea (Imidazolidinyl), are two commonly found toxins in hygiene products. Both of these products release formaldehyde which can be found in more than beauty and personal hygiene products. Being exposed can cause unwanted, and uncomfortable side effects like: Headaches Depression Chronic fatigue Chest pain Joint pain Cancer Dizziness and insomnia. Formaldehyde is a known neurotoxin that's definitely something I don't want in or on my body! These toxins aren't exclusive to adult products, these two ingredients can be found in many popular brands of baby wipes also. I know you're with me when I say, how is this even allowed? DMDM Hydantoin and Urea (Imidazolidinyl) aren't the only toxins present in our daily products. Phthalate, a chemical that is a known hormone disruptor is found in a variety of household products. It is believed that the average person is contaminated by phthalates at least three times a day! That's three square meals of toxins a day ya'll!

This is Just the Tip of the Iceberg

Let's move over to cosmetics, and skin care products. Did you know here in the USA, there has not been a regulatory law passed on cosmetics since 1938? Did you also know there are approximately 80,000 different ingredients found in skin care products, including:

  • carcinogens

  • pesticides

  • reproductive toxins and hormone disruptors

Studies have shown roughly 89% of the personal care products on the market have not been evaluated for safety.

I could spend days even weeks talking about the list of items that introduce free radicals and toxins into our bodies. Perfumes and cologne, scented candles... our mattresses! Yep, we're introducing toxins into our bodes even while we sleep.

Our skin, is the largest organ our body has. Free radicals and toxins are getting in our bodies by ingestion, they're also being absorbed through our skin.

What Goes in Must Come Out!

Ya'll our bodies are non-stop powerhouses! We're made up of organs and cells that fight free radicals and toxins. In a healthy body, if they're introduced we push them right back out. Our skin, liver, kidneys, lymphatic system... help rid our bodies of unwanted, unnatural toxins. But, when we get over loaded with toxins and free radicals from poor diet, stress, infection, environmental free radicals, we begin to experience the side effects.

Keeping our body strong, eliminating and minimizing these toxins helps our body remove toxins when they're introduced. Let's face it we can't live in a bubble. But, we can do the next best thing! Create a bubble of health in and around our bodies.

Naturally detoxing the body is easier than you think. Start by using natural "clean" body, skin and household products with ingredients you can actually pronounce without having to consult with Google or Siri. The smaller the ingredient list, the better. Natural and organic foods are our front line of defense against becoming overloaded by toxins.
